The Division of Primary Care has physicians working out of 11 practice sites within a 15-mile radius of Providence. All our physicians are affiliated with either Rhode Island Hospital or The Miriam Hospital. All are members of the clinical faculty of Brown Medical School. All are board certified in their respective fields of primary care medicine: either internal medicine, family practice or pediatrics.

Our mission is twofold: First, to apply the best of academic medicine to achieve the highest quality care for our patients and second, to mentor aspiring generalists who seek to do the same.

In carrying out our mission we try always to keep in mind the values that led us to our profession:

• A long-term confidential doctor-patient relationship is fundamental to what we do.
• Health is to be promoted, disease prevented.
• Strong collegial relationships with medical and surgical sub-specialists will help ensure coordinated rather than fragmented care for our patients.
• Medical learning is a lifelong endeavor that we should promote both as students and teachers.
• We should uphold the public trust to manage limited health-care resources responsibly.
